Do you have a hard time accepting gifts or compliments?

Published over 1 year ago • 1 min read

Dear brilliant Reader,

Howdy, my dear friend and helping soul! How are you? I hope, no matter if you are battered by tasks this week or in the coming holiday season, you can take some time to recognize you. I mean, You. Do. So. Much. Your love. Your gifts. Your contributions. YES! Even your Laugh. Everything you are is a blessing to our world.

I want to let you know about something. It happened every birthday. Every Holiday. At the end of every school year. Even when I published my book. Every milestone.

When everyone was celebrating, I wasn't happy. I was full of dread. In my head, I was like "great, I survived that, NOW what am I gonna face next?"

This summer, I stopped this thinking in its tracks.

I wrote letters to my past selves saying how proud I was of her. I cried and reconciled. Then, I paused to celebrate her. I felt like I was finally not battling or judging my past self. We were all rooting for each other. We were finally on the same team.

Now, every day, I write down two things I am Proud of myself for doing or being from the previous day. Maybe it was how I handled a conversation. Or taking a brave step. Or taking care of myself. Or practicing patience. And then, I pause to celebrate myself.

This 30-second daily practice has helped me...

  1. Become braver than I ever thought possible
  2. Not feel bad and actually ENJOY IT when people give me gifts + compliments
  3. Increase my self worth
  4. Align with my whole self
  5. Eliminate worries
  6. Enjoy little and big milestones to their fullest (Hello present moment joy!)
  7. Receive so much more abundance - of gratitude, of love, of everything - in my life.

So, here's the formula:

➡️ Think of one thing you are proud of doing from yesterday. ➡️ Write it down. ➡️ Don't put in any snarky words, or it won't work! ➡️ Celebrate your little or big moment, however is most rewarding for you! (I sit with my first cup of coffee)

In this season of longer-than-Santa's-to-do lists and overcommercialized holiday-zania, I wish you open your heart for Gratitude's Big Sis, Pride. May she bring you the love and the abundance and a fuller, worthier heart than you ever dreamed possible.

with much gratitude, hugs, and love,

Heidi Esther

PS I would love to know if any of this resonates with you!!!
